Hi! I'm Jenna! You might know me from the new bulletin board page and the post; The Second Chance Challenge. I'm going to give you some tips for fixing up an old doll.
1. Wash your doll's hair with shampoo, conditioner, and diluted fabric softener. The soap will make it clean, and the conditioner and fabric softener will make it extra soft. Your not supposed to get your doll wet, especially her hair, but if it's a disaster... your going to have to turn to this.
2. Use a magic eraser, slightly damp, to erase stains. Run the eraser all over your doll to clean off any invisible dirt or grime.
3. To customize your doll, you can dye your doll's hair. Use homemade or store bought hair dye, or food coloring. Lay your doll on the grass, outside, and wrap her in a towel leaving only her hair exposed. Put sandwich ziplock bags or gloves on your hands to keep them clean. Mix several drops of food coloring ( depending on how dark you want it ) with a little water. Pour the mixture on your doll's hair and run your protected hands through her hair. Take her inside ( CAREFULLY! ) and let her sit overnight. Wash her hair out. ( You don't have to wash it all the way, or the dye may come completely out ) You can add a little more fabric softener if you want. Note: The dye moves UP the doll's hair so the dye will go higher than you originally put it. Jenna's dye washed out at the bottom and only dyed the top. For hair dye; use the same steps. However, you do not have to add water to the mixture.
Put your doll in some new clothes and give her a name and some hobbies!
