Welcome to Fairyology! My name is Emma Rose. I'm going to be your teacher! I apologize if the picture appears blurry. Fairies need to stay somewhat of a secret you know. Now, let's get started!

Lesson:

People believe that fairies are a mythical being, legendary creature, or some form of spirit. Some people think fairies are demoted angles, demons, spirits of the dead, prehistoric precursors to humans, or elementals. Lots of big words, I know. Let me explain. Demoted means to give (someone) a lower rank or less senior position, usually as a punishment. Precursor means that ( in this instance ) fairies came before humans. The word fairy at times only applies to specific magical creatures with human appearance, small stature, magical powers, and a love for trickery. At other times it has been used to describe many different magical creatures, such as goblins and gnomes. Some people use the word fairy in place of the word enchanted or magical. Some people thought you needed to ward off fairies with magical charms. Some of the charms would be; church bells, wearing clothes inside out, a four leaf clover, and food. Fairies were sometimes thought to haunt certain places and lead travelers astray using will-o-the-wisp. Will-o-the-wisp is a glowing, floating, ghost light ( kind of like in Brave ). Back in the day, people used to blame fairies for different sicknesses. So, poor fairies, getting blamed for peoples problems. What do you think fairies are like? Evil? Tricksters? Angels?

Assignment: Here is your assignment for this lesson. You get to draw your own fairy! You get to design what they wear, what color their skin and hair is, and what their personality is like! Write a description about your fairy. Please include: Her powers ( if she has any ), if she is evil, kind, or a trickster, what type of fairy she is, and what her clothes are made of.
